Mykola Tomenko: Attempts to Liquidate the Student´s Self-Government would arose Serious Opposition

 

 On Friday during the National Forum of the Student´s Movement Leaders "Student´s Self-Government in Ukraine in a New Decade: Experience and New Challenges" that is held in Vinnytsia city, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasised that the attempts to liquidate student´s self-government would arose serious opposition.

 

Mykola Tomenko emphasised that "unfortunately the state officials in Ministry on Education pay linkage to the amendments to the Law "On Higher Education" that orders the system of the local self-government, though exert efforts to prevent student´s self-government from being transformed into an institute that influence in fact life of an educational establishment." According to him, the adoption of the norm of funding of the student´s self government is constantly postponed. "Furthermore, there appeared a proposition initiated by the Ministry on Education that suggests liquidation of norms of an efficient Law in the part of rights of student´s self-government", he stated.

 

The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is convinced that the students would not let restricting their rights and liberties: whether it concerns extra paid services or restriction of their right to influence the decision in the higher educational establishment.
